Where and when were you born?
When did you start playing?
At the age of 14 I was offered the use of a bass guitar to try to learn, my love affair with the bass began there. I sold my tenor horn (having previously being in a local brass band) and bought my first bass.
I have played in a number of professional outfits and have toured around Britain and abroad.
If you had to take one album to your desert island, what would it be and why?
It’s very difficult to choose one album, there are so many that I class as go to albums…. if I had to pinpoint a single album I’d have to say Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds
Who are your influences?
Geezer Butler is a huge influence, being self-taught I decided very soon after picking up my first bass to learn the first two Black Sabbath albums. Other influences include Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Flea, Billy Gould, John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Lemmy, Bootsy Collins, Jack Bruce, Les Claypool and many more.
What gear do you tour with?
I play Fender Precisions through a Hartke Kilo amp head with Hartke 1×15 and 410 cabs, I also use a Boss multi effects board.
One obscure interesting fact about yourself.
I once played a gig on a ship in a force 10.5 storm.
